About Dr. Kirby
Dr. Kirby Teuila Grey, LAc. DAHM is an Integrative Chinese medicine practitioner, intuitive life coach, facilitator, and a filmmaker/storyteller/artist. Using these modalities, Dr. Kirby seeks to help folks heal from the physical and spiritual diseases that ail them, re-pattern their energies, and reconnect holistically with their essential selves.
After studying theology as an undergraduate, Kirby earned her master’s degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine in 2012, and completed her doctorate program for acupuncture and herbal medicine in 2023. Her doctoral candidacy training culminated with a completion of her thesis entitled, ‘A Practitioner’s Guide to Treating Internalized Oppression’.
She has led many workshops, classes and talks on various topics, including Integrative Chinese medicine principles and practices to self-cultivate the embodied experience of freedom from the internalized oppression within.
Kirby is a first-generation Samoan American (Western Samoa), Czech, with mixed Scottish and Western European heritage. She recognizes and honors the many Indigenous tribes of Turtle Island. She believes that our freedom is inseparable from our sacred relationship with Mother Earth, Father Sky, the One Creator, and everything in between. She also believes that our collective liberation is inextricably tied to the elimination of racism, the equality of women, the dismantling of classism, and the recognition that every human on this planet is a sovereign being with the inherent right to live upon this sacred earth.
Part of her mission is to help people reconnect with the lands and spaces they come from, to become stewards of both the earth and their own spirits, and to bring into the material world the spiritual truth that we are all one—interconnected within an intricate web of life.
A lifelong Pacific North-westerner, Dr. Kirby settled in Portland, OR in 2019, with her husband and two step children, after living in Seattle, WA for over 15 years.
Specialities: reproductive health for all genders; sports medicine and pain management; mental, emotional, and spiritual health; nervous system disorders; chronic fatigue; allergies; and the treatment of internalized oppression.
Modalities: In each session, Dr. Kirby may employ a combination of acupuncture, dry needling, Chinese tuina massage, cupping, gua-sha, Chinese organ and visceral manipulation, cranial sacral, fascial unwinding, and other bodywork and energy medicine techniques with sacred storytelling methods.
Sessions are often paired with herbal prescriptions, diet, body movement, intuitive coaching and other lifestyle recommendations that will support your process of healing and transformation. Because of Dr. Kirby's approach to treatment, she never leaves the room and is providing care during the entire session.
